MAM (Meter Asset Manager)

Meter Asset Managers are responsible for the ownership, installation, maintenance, and data management of gas meters throughout their lifecycle.

What is a MAM?

A Meter Asset Manager (MAM) is an Ofgem-approved organisation responsible for managing gas meter assets throughout their operational lifecycle. There is only one MAM per meter point.

MAM is a gas industry role. The electricity equivalent is MOP (Meter Operator).

MAM Responsibilities

Meter Asset Managers handle:

  • Installation - coordinating meter installations and exchanges
  • Maintenance - fault resolution and repairs
  • Data flows - RGMA messaging with Xoserve
  • Compliance - meeting MAMCoP requirements
  • Asset tracking - lifecycle management

Regulatory Framework

MAMs must comply with:
